Should Bobby Rush apologize to child abuse victims?

Congressman Bobby Rush (IL -1st) is gesturing for the camera again. The former Black Panther Chicago Democrat was outraged over Peter King’s comments about the late performer Michael Jackson. Peter King asked the question why the entertainer is receiving so much support when soldiers, police officers, firefighters, and teachers are ignored. Mr. King did refer to Michael Jackson as a pedophile during his speech. Michael Jackson’s sudden death is a tragedy, but so are the alleged injustices he committed against innocent children.

Bobby Rush is just condoning the exploitation of children. How many children need to molested for the Congressman to get it. Everyday young boys are girls are raped by adults. Congressman Rush, why don’t you speak up for them?

Congressman Bobby Rush served 6 months in prison for illegal possession of firearms. Mr Rush also has close ties with fellow Rainbow Push member, Mel Reynolds who was imprisoned for sexual assault and child pornography.

Chicago Democrats should be more concerned about their own house before they start throwing rocks.

Vallas Out of Cook Co. President Race

Former Chicago Public Schools chief Paul Vallas has decided not to run for Cook County Board President as a Republican after floating the idea for months.

Vallas said today he needs to stay in New Orleans and “finished what I started” running the school district there.

“It is going to take me another solid year down here and I don’t want to jeopardize the progress we made by leaving too early,” he said.

Vallas had also floated a bid for governor but dropped that after it become clear he wouldn’t be able to leave his post in New Orleans early enough to run a competitive statewide campaign.

After leaving the Chicago schools, Vallas ran for governor in Illinois in 2002 but lost the Democratic primary narrowly to Rod Blagojevich in a three-way race with Roland Burris. He floated a run for governor again in 2006, but backed out. After his 2002 race he took a position running the Philadelphia school district and then moved on to New Orleans…(read full)

Audit Shows $200K Missing from Cook County Public Administrator’s Office

The past practices of the Cook County Public Administrator’s Office cost taxpayers at least $227,871 in missing funds and possibly millions more in sweetheart contracts, a new audit indicates.

The office is supposed to protect the assets of those who die without a will or with an executor who is incapable. But an audit by McGovern & Greene LLP found that before 2003, estate funds were commingled and estates with negative balances were subsidized by others with positive balances.

At least some checks were outright stolen from one estate to the tune of $3,198, and about $3 million was spent on estate services that were questionable, the account found. Some of the companies hired to “manage” estates weren’t even incorporated or registered with the state when they were given the contracts, county auditor Laura Burman found…(read full)

IRS Put Lien on Todd Stroger’s Residence

Cook County Board President Todd Stroger failed to pay nearly $12,000 in federal income taxes, according to the county Recorder of Deeds Office.

The IRS placed a lien on the home of Stroger and his wife, Jeanine, in March, a document filed with the recorder of deeds office shows.

Dead People Still Vote in Cook County

Tribune reports five deceased voters of Ford Heights turned out to vote in a heated mayoral election last April:

Cook County Clerk David Orr said this week that some of the claims have been dismissed, such as the allegations that 10 people voted twice and that dead residents voted. But he said in five cases, voting registration paperwork for deceased residents had been completed and turned in.

“Somebody filled out applications,” Orr said. “We’re concerned.” (read full)

Northwest Cook Co. Lincoln Day Dinner: Karl Rove Coming to the Schaumburg Marriot

Karl Rove, the former deputy chief of staff and senior adviser to former President George W. Bush, is coming to Schaumburg this month.

Rove, who’s also a political commentator for Fox News, will be the keynote speaker at the second annual Northwest Suburban Republican Lincoln Day Dinner, to be held Feb. 23 at the Schaumburg Marriott Hotel, 50 N. Martingale Road in Schaumburg.

The 6 p.m. reception and 7 p.m. dinner bring together the Republican township committees of Barrington, Elk Grove, Hanover, Palatine, Schaumburg and Wheeling.

Political commentator Dan Proft will be master of ceremonies for the event, expected to draw more than 300 guests. The theme of the evening will be the 200th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s birth. Each of the Republican township committees will host an area war veteran as their guest… (read full)
